I can't remember if I posted about Kalikolehua, the free music program both Faith and Malik participate in this year. Last year as a kindergartener, Malik began learning how to play the recorder and the violin. This year, they've offered it to kids in all the grades and now include the cello, clarinet, percussion, and flute. Faith chose to play the cello. Malik was hesitant about being in this program again, due to the two-hour after school practices four days a week, but has since come to enjoy it with his peers. They are also singing a lot more this year.
Today they performed a holiday concert for parents to come see what progress they've made since the beginning of the year. I am glad I had the opportunity to attend.
