this morning was lazy. we had a slow start, sleeping in, putting an early morning video on for the kids so that me and doug could get a little more shut-eye. then it was off to the beach for a barbecue in celebration of rachel's birthday. there was a slip-n-slide, lots of good food, and great company. then we headed to makali'u's first birthday party. the first thing the kids saw after we parked was the bounce house. yeah. that's where they went and stayed. me and doug went to eat (some more) and there was yummy hawaiian food - fried, whole fish, poi, chicken long rice, lomi salmon, kalua pig, panipopo, squid luau, fried bananas, and cake and ice cream machine (with toppings of your choice), of course. we talked story with family and reconnected with old friends. it was a fun-filled day, for us all! now it's time for a bath and then BED!
oh, and just so i remember -- we caught malik peeing on the sidewalk and when doug went over to tell him that it wasn't nice to go to the bathroom there, malik said excitedly,"Look dad, i made a 'w'!!!" haha! it was kinda hard not to laugh. and it really did look like a letter 'w'.
