i think i feel a bit of chill in the air. or at least something cooler than it's been lately.
and today there was rain.
i'm actually anticipating the cooler, damper weather.
today, we were home-bodies and read lots of books. good, old-fashioned, simple, educational entertainment. at the kaneohe friends of the library book sale last week, we picked up some treats. i am a book hoarder and that is something i don't have a problem with. one can never have too many good books in their home. at least that's my philosophy. faith and malik love Love LOVE to read and can pleasantly pass the time looking at books on their own. they revel in me reading to them and that brings me great joy.
this book sale is great because every time i go, i find all kinds of wonderful books to take home. and it usually ends up costing me less than the price of probably the cheapest book in borders. so that's another reason i'm okay with it. and the kids love it, too, because they get to choose what books they want. we browse and have fun making our selections.
i adore vintage books. the older, the better. i like their character and always wonder about their history. maybe it has something to do with watching 'the neverending story' one too many times as a kid. that old book store intrigued me.
almost every 'little golden book' we ended up getting is nearly fifty to sixty years old. how awesome is that?! best of all, a lot of them were my favorites when i was little and a nostalgia for my childhood awakens. while i may not recall exactly what the story was about, the pictures delighted me. and, call me sentimental, they still do.
anyway, here are some new additions to our library from the book sale:
thanks for tuning me in to this book sale, echo!
happy reading, everyone!

ohhhh my antonia is one of my ALL TIME FAVORITES! i dont even have a copy anymore because one year for my best friends birthday i gave her my tattered, marked, and well loved copy as if it was my first born child! and i love the golden egg, and jane eyre of course and well.... ALL OF THOSE are great choices! we have been big fans of that book sale and sometimes the kahuku one has a few things too for quite some time. nothing like a good book in my opinion. oddly enough, since i have been teaching i have been thinking about literature a lot more, but probably reading less since i am so focused on what i am teaching instead of dashing on to the next treasured book like i usually do. this post made me so excited to grab up a good book this week!
i love this post! and i love the kaneohe friends of the library book sale! glad you could come with us that day. you got some good finds this time
hey that was our day today!!
i've gotta get over to friends of the library.. seroiusly. seeing these just makes me salivate with jealousy.
love old books too. we have been playing (and trying not to rip too many) of my moms old books from when she/we were little! nice scores!
